Mens Skincare Tips from Anthony Logistics Founder, Anthony Sosnick Face Care | Nov 18, 2016

If a man only purchased three products in your range, which items would you recommend and why?

When developing men's skin care products, are there physiological differences in men versus women's skin and/or metabolisms that are taken into consideration other than obvious cosmetic differences such as color and fragrance. For example, would the viscosity of products for men and women be the same. And, if not, why not?

Men tend to have both thicker skin and oilier skin than women, which is why our formulas are thinner and absorb more quickly. Overall, men tend to prefer lighter formulas that get the job done.

Men shave their faces, so their skin needs healing and soothing ingredients to repair. Anthony Logistics products feature aloe vera, azulene, chamomile, calendula, comfrey, grapeseed extract, oat kernel oil, slippery elm extract and other ingredients help to reduce inflammation, promote healing and soothe the skin. The signature ingredient in Action products is aqua cacteen, a potent elixir from opuntia cactus that soothes and hydrates.

It's important to note that even though men shave every day, they still need to exfoliate - in fact, because they shave. Exfoliating helps to release hairs to allow for the smoothest shave and prevent ingrown hairs. Ideally, a scrub should be used two-three times a week.

Why do you believe a lot of men's skin care seems to have lower levels of SPF protection versus comparable products for women?

We feel that SPF 15 is a healthy amount of sun protection and believe it is an important part of any skincare regimen. Our daily use products are formulated at SPF 15 because we don't feel that a real benefit is gained from adding more chemicals to boost the sun protection factor higher. It is possible that women's skincare ranges offer products with very high SPF because the concerns about anti-aging are more acute among female consumers.

Do you think younger men understand the value of preventative skin care?

While some younger men are certainly interested in preventative skin care (and more than you might think!), we think there is still a huge opportunity to educate this demographic on the importance of being proactive and protecting their skin.

What are the motivating purchase factors relative to demographics? Are older men buying products to address wrinkles? Are younger men hoping to prevent wrinkles and/or address other problems like acne? Do men really focus on skin care only to be attractive to potential romantic partners? Does this affect your approach to product communication?

There are three key motivating factors for men who purchase skincare:

1. To feel good about themselves / to solve a particular skincare concern

2. To feel attractive for potential partners

3. To competitive in the workplace

We think this last point is increasing in its importance. Overall, men are becoming more interested in taking care of their appearance to be competitive in the workplace, a concern that has grown during the recent economic downturn. Men want to look sharp and well groomed - and also youthful, in an increasingly competitive workplace.

On average, for a man to utilize your full men's regimen, how much would he spend per month?

$40-45
